This Dodge Durango had a warped exhaust manifold that snapped an exhaust stud causing a large exhaust leak and the “Lifter Tick†sound. I spent some time extracting the broken stud from the cylinder head with a left hand drill bit paired with a template and extractor bit. While I have done these without drill templates the risk remains very high of piercing the cylinder head water jacket requiring a very expensive repair at my cost and substantial downtime for my customer.
